Some of you may know by now that I am at the start of a new life. That is to say, a new working life. On Thursday 28th April my previous career came to an end, Not through choice exactly but through necessity. Medical necessity. Again, some of you who know me well will know what my former occupation was. I was a Police Officer. Specifically, a Detective in what is termed Public Protection. The department of Public Protection has several departments, some of which I worked in at one time or another. Two of the departments are Child Abuse Investigation and High Risk Domestic Abuse Investigation. I spent the latter part of my career in the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit. I'm not going to dwell on what work I did, but suffice to say, it is a draining, consuming occupation which, although it's a cliché, becomes a state of mind. It was a job I'd had for the last thirteen years and I'd assumed it would continue for quite some time yet. But it wasn't to be and although I gnashed my teeth, swore a lot, and cried about the injustice of it all, I'm moving on. Who knows what the future holds? This wasn't something I'd planned for, although it was on the cards for last three years, but that's exciting, isn't it? I feel fortunate to have had a career of which I'm immensely proud of but now it's time for something new! Onwards and upwards, as they say!

My New novel, Boo! is out today! Here's the blurb. Maldon Williams was nine years old when he saw a clown murder his parents. The clown used a kitchen knife to cut their throats from ear to ear, and blood dripped down the walls in thick, oozing rivers. Ben Night was once a successful author, whose career now seems washed up. But his horror novel ‘Clownz’ is about to become all too real. Real enough to break into his own home. Jane Brady is the police detective investigating a string of monstrous killings, connected only by Night’s book. Has its villain, Sparkles The Clown, inspired these real-life atrocities? From the pages of fiction, Sparkles walks the world, leaving behind only the flayed faces of his victims and a single word written in blood: “Boo!” Edited by David Wailing of SES Available to buy on Amazon for 99p/99c - http://authl.it/515 |
